**Purpose and Scope:**
This position is responsible for consolidating and reporting the consolidated financial statements of TimkenSteel Corporation in accordance with US GAAP. This role ensures the company is in compliance with the external regulatory rules and reporting standards established by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Accounting Standards Board, and other organizations defining US GAAP. This position supports company initiatives with accounting research and technical assistance to ensure proper financial planning and recording, including stock compensation, restructuring, acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures.
**Essential Responsibilities:**
* Monthly accounting entries and reporting of employer/director stock compensation.
* Monthly consolidation work: working with certain units on monthly close; reviewing analyses of units' monthly financial reports; reviewing eliminations in HFM to ensure consolidation is accurately performed.
* Assist with preparation and issuance of Form 10Q, 10K, 11K, and 8K filings as well as any other potential SEC filings (shelf registrations, prospectuses, etc.). These various SEC filings have strict reporting deadlines and require accuracy and attention to detail. Position is required to have sound technical accounting expertise in US GAAP as well as Workiva (formerly WebFilings), which is the reporting tool used for filing with the SEC.
* Prepare press release financial statements for quarterly financial news releases and earnings calls for TimkenSteel.
* Maintain awareness of new accounting standards to ensure that any new technical accounting pronouncements are appropriately reflected in the Company's external filings. Errors or inappropriate interpretations can result in late filings, internal control deficiencies, and/or restatements.
* Assist with the preparation of financial statements for defined contribution (401(k)) and defined benefit plans as well as preparing supporting schedules and answering auditor questions for the annual employee benefit plan audits.
* Assist with ad hoc reporting and accounting guidance requests from senior management. Additional information related to accounting guidance; technical evaluations of financial statement items and prospective analysis of future events (potential impairment, acquisitions, divestitures, etc) could be requested
**_Minimum Qualifications:_**
Bachelor Degree of Accounting or related field
**_Preferred Qualifications:_**
Bachelor Degree of Accounting or related field with at least 2 years of SEC reporting, accounting, consolidations experience
**_Technical/Functional Skills:_**
* High level of organization
* Proficient in technical writing skills
* Analytical skills
* Working knowledge of monthly accounting close and general ledger systems
